Every time I look into your eyes I see the future

TIGA’s first single since a long time, MIND DIMENSION - think sleazy acid and filthy techy beats - is met by great love all round and lives up to the expectations.
TIGA’s new album will be released in the springtime of 2009. Tiga wrote the new songs with long time collaborators Jesper Dahlback and of course Soulwax but also with Gonzales and James Murphy this time round. Soulwax are currently mixing the album with Tiga in Ghent, Belgium. Exciting times, stay close…

JOAN AS POLICE WOMAN New Single ‘Holiday’ and b side 'No Question' will be released on September 22

Holiday’ is the new single to be released from ‘To Survive’, the second album from Joan As Police Woman. Number One in the Independent Album Charts in the UK on its release in June, ‘To Survive’ is set to eclipse the brilliant success of Joan's debut (Real Life) album both critically and commercially. In Europe, “To Survive” entered the album charts in Holland, Belgium, Italy, Denmark (top 10), Switzerland and Greece.

'Real Life' brought Joan Wasser out of the shadows and established her as that rare thing, a truly unique and original voice. Songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist, Joan has bewitched fans across Europe, Japan, Australia and the US over the last two years and has built on that success with the release of new album, 'To Survive'.

Following a sold out European tour in June, JAPW will play a few more European festivals in August, before touring the USA and Australia in September and October, returning to the UK and Europe for a full tour in November/ December.

Le Peuple De L'Herbe - Live (CD+DVD)

A live album, driven by the “Radio Blood Money” tour, a DVD of the concert recorded at La Vapeur (France), an interview / documentary about the history of the band and the spirit behind it, lots of bonus material (almost 2h30 of content)…. a project like this is often considered a testimony of a band – this is evidence LE PEUPLE DE L’HERBE have still got a lot to say !

Instead of just riding on the success of “Radio Blood Money”,, LE PEUPLE DE L’HERBE delivers a cd+dvd concept that shows  this image of  a fun live band is the result of a lot of dedicated hard work. It also gives you a unique opportunity to discover -  or re-discover -  one of the most intriguing and innovative bands around.

New Signing SOAP&SKIN

Under your skin she will get instantly, like a shot to the heart. With her voice, her piano compositions and the dark electronic surges, SOAP&SKIN will reach through space to affect. Deeply.

Serious and sublime are the songs SOAP&SKIN composes. At the same time there’s a fragility to them, luring them close to the abyss created in the tension between the frailness and the majestic. The lightness so easily attributed to the biological period called youth, has got nothing to do with this music. They’re dark and sceptic hymns, which SOAP&SKIN writes. Her arrangements of piano, strings, acoustic and electronic sounds are reminders of what Gabriel Garcia Lorca or Nick Cave called “duende”- songs evoking melancholies inexplicable force.

After her release of the song Mr. Gaunt PT 1000 SOAP&SKIN is working on her debut album. Already her first release, along with her vastly spreading profile on myspace, helped her to prominent shows and massive radio air-play in Austria, Germany and the USA.

Beside her musical projects SOAP&SKIN is studying at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and works as an actress.

New Signing - BOHREN & DER CLUB OF GORE

[PIAS ] Recordings just signed the German band “Bohren & Der Club Of Gore” for the World excluding North America.

Bohren & der Club of Gore is a band founded in 1992 in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany by Thorsten Benning, Morten Gass, Robin Rodenberg and Reiner Henseleit.
Originally, members of Bohren started out playing in various hardcore bands such as 7 Inch Boots and Chronical Diarrhoea.

In 1992 they produced a crossover of jazz, hardcore, and ambient, which they self described as an "unholy ambient mixture of slow jazz ballads, Black Sabbath doom and down tuned Autopsy sounds".
Henseleit was replaced by Christoph Clöser in 1997, replacing the guitar with a saxophone at the same time.

Journalists have described them as the “slowest band on earth” (which in fact they are) and “the missing link between Sade and Metallica”.

Their new album is called “Dolores” and will be released early October.

Check out their tour dates; the band has been handpicked by The Melvins for their All Tomorrow’s Parties line up in November.

EDITORS : New Single, ‘Bones’, 2nd June 2008

Already a firm live favourite and a stand out track from their huge selling second album, ‘An End Has A Start’, ‘Bones’ is released as a single on digital download by Editors on June 2nd.

Following global success with their debut album, ‘The Back Room’, Editors returned in 2007 with ‘An End Has A Start’, spawning hit singles in the form of ‘Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors’, ‘The Racing Rats’ and the album title track. The band toured across Europe in support of an album that scored the band a debut Number One in the UK, Number Two in Holland and a combined European peak chart placing of Number 9. Now platinum in the UK and close to gold in Holland and Belgium, ‘An End Has A Start’ also saw the band make great strides in Japan and the US.

2008 also saw Editors tour relentlessly throughout the world. Mainland European shows in Holland saw the band sell out Amsterdam’s Heineken Music Hall, take the roof off London’s Alexandra Palace on two successive sold out nights, play their largest ever show in their adopted home town of Birmingham at a totally sold out 12,500 capacity National Indoor Arena and cross the world selling out shows and thrilling crowds from Melbourne to Malmo and all points in between.

The video for ‘Bones’ gives an insight into the world of Editors on tour. In addition to live footage from shows across Europe which demonstrate the visceral excitement of the band live and the incredible response of crowds across the continent, the film also goes behind the scenes to show Editors off stage. Shot by bassist Russell Leetch, the footage from the dressing rooms and promo moments repudiates the cliché of Editors as a stern group of artists and is a reminder that, since 2003, the four members of Editors have been together as a constantly touring group of friends.

This summer sees the band continue their prolific touring with a run of festival dates across Europe and support slots with long time influences REM

THE WHIP

The Whip is one of this year’s most exciting indie-rock-dance crossover acts. Whatever may have been before, this band are here and now and have their finger right on the pulse of what makes a great British band in 2008: ladies and Gentlemen, we give you The Whip.

Bourne out of a dank rehearsal room in the basement of a pub in Manchester, Bruce and Danny worked non-stop perfecting their combined musical magic. They then craned their necks towards the sun and brought what they’d created out from the underground. Raising the game even further their partners in crime, Fee and Nathan joined the force to take The whip on tour. And boy have they been on tour. The Whip have spent the past two years distinguishing themselves as one of the most forward thinking (and hardest gigging) bands in Manchester…no mean feat considering the calibre of music hailing from this city, but The Whip contain so many diverse musical elements it’s hardly surprising. Whether it’s dub influenced bass lines, Aphex Twin-esqu glitches or Bruce’s belting grunge-rasp vocals The Whip are truly an every-man’s party band.

With Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Editors) on production duties for this debut long player, The Whip have created a wealth of dance floor ruptures and neon explosions all wrapped up in good old fashioned pop songs. And bloody good ones at that.

“Trash” is simply a killer song – watch their video HERE!

JOAN AS POLICE WOMAN – To Survive new album

The new JOAN AS POLICE WOMAN album "To Survive" will be released on June, 9. An album of unashamedly heartfelt songs, in Joan’s words, “I am always trying to dig deeper into the emotional experience. I want to access the most honest place I can, distill it and present it in a way that makes sense musically.” The first press quotes are dripping in and if these don’t warm your heart, nothing will….

Q – June ’08 ---****

Sparse, thoughtful and staggeringly beautiful.

(…)a poignant soundtrack to loss and survival that comes straight from the heart. To Survive is a remarkable exploration of Wasser’s talent as a songwriter.
Joan As Police Woman is simply irresistible.

At times painful in its honesty, To Survive is a deeply moving album that deserves to be embraced by all.

UNCUT – June ’08
“To Survive” is an enormously involving and impressive record; a slow and emotional set that builds and builds until it struts out with the Broadway horns and inevitable Rufus Wainwright cameo of America.
This is breathtakingly good music.

OBSERVER MUSIC MONTHLY – May 18 ‘08

"Maybe this is what Chopin would have sounded like had he been a modern-day multi-instrumentalist with a passion for Al Green and a voice like Roberta Flack"

WORD – June ‘08

“Carole King in a little black dress, Burt Bacharach with balls and Lou Reed without the mean streak, all rolled into one.”

“At its best, its combination of effortless musicality and raw emotion takes it into Nina Simone territory –yes, it’s that enormous.”

STEREO MC's new album

The Brixton Boys are back! Stereo MCs are all set to unleash their latest genre surfing opus, ‘Double Bubble’, onto an unsuspecting world this summer. Often labeled as one of the UK’s most iconic bands, and with Mercury nominations, Brit awards and million selling albums behind them, the Stereo MCs are here once again to prove that they’re as innovative and relevant as ever.

The past two years have been spent DJing, soaking up the here and now of clubland, or holed up in their ‘Frontline Studio’ in the heart of Brixton, working on their latest pigeon-hole defying record. Always at the root of the band, Brixton is a fertile breeding ground that has been central to Stereo MCs development over the years and Double Bubble is no exception. A chance meeting in a Brixton pub between Rob and 19 year old local beat-meister Tic-Toc led to a burgeoning friendship and a prolifically creative musical collaboration that has infused Double Bubble’s fresh and vital approach.

Unquestionably a Stereo MCs record, it’s clear that this isn’t a band resting on the laurels of a successful past. Peppered with Rob’s lean lyrical vignettes, musically ‘Double Bubble’ is right on the money. The album’s first fruit ‘Gringo’ (recently unleashed as a peak-time club weapon) is already an online viral sensation thanks to it’s surreal virtual reality inspired video click here, whilst the electronic stomp of ‘The Here & Now’, the urban chronicles of ‘City Lights’, the darkly reflective ‘Pictures’ and epic ‘Black Gold’, clearly signal a band that is very comfortable in its own skin and uniquely Stereo MCs.

‘Double Bubble’ will be release July 21st on CD and Download.

THE YOUNG GODS' first acoustic album

A first "acoustic" album for The Young Gods, what a surprise for a band whose fame came 20 years ago from their use of digital samplers.

After the recording of their studio album "Super Ready Fragmenté” in 2006, the Swiss trio was invited to play some special concerts and to perform their own repertoire in an acoustic set-up for the very first time.

The approach combined a kind of psychedelic blues folk with electronic minimalism, and the band was so delighted that they decided to record these acoustic versions in studio.

The result, this album “Knock On Wood”, is sublime and surprising.

Not only do The Young Gods revisit their own classics (like "Gasoline Man" or "Skinflowers") but they have also recorded a cover of Richie Havens’ "Freedom" (from the Woodstock days…). A few other covers (« Ghost Rider » by Suicide, Everything In Its Right Place » by Radiohead, « If Six Was Nine » by Hendrix) are only available on the bonus live DVD from a show filmed in Zurich in Dec 2006. And there is even more for the real collectors with three other songs recorded and filmed while the band was walking and playing in the streets of Paris.

An acoustic studio album + a live acoustic dvd, or how about reinventing yourself with more than a vintage flavor. “Knock On Wood” is a fantastic journey into the Young Gods magnificent style and repertoire.

Next acoustic live dates : May 28th in Paris (La Boule Noire”) and June 10th in London (Borderline)

Spring 2008. A busy period for LAURENT GARNIER

For its 25th anniversary issue, Mixmag asked Laurent to mix their covermount CD; this exclusive issue is out since mid-April.

Laurent is also hosting two “Wordwide shows” on Radio 1 this month sitting in for Gilles Peterson.

Surprise, Laurent will release a new 12'' vinyl, the “Back to my roots” EP, on the highly-respected “Innervision” (Âme) label. These two tracks will be released on 12” and digital on May 17th (the digital rights will be returned to PIAS Digital after 6 months). This is a release that will reinforce Laurent’s profile on the dance floor/techno scene.

Other hot news is that an excellent cover version of “Man with the red face” by Mark Night & Funk Agenda is set to have a pre-summer release on UK label Tool Room Records.

Laurent is in the studio at the moment recording his new album due for release early 2009, with a first single from the album expected this autumn.

CRYSTAL CASTLES' debut album will be released in Europe on 28 April on Different.

Crystal Castles is a Toronto-based duo comprising Ethan Kath and Alice Glass, formed in 2004. They got themselves a cult following with the release of their limited edition singles and word of mouth has ensured them packed shows.

The band has toured extensively across the UK and Europe supporting artists like Klaxons and Metric, and have also remixed Bloc Party and Klaxons, amongst others.

Although Crystal Castles have attracted a lot of attention from those trying to pigeonhole the band as leaders for such media-hyped sub-genres as “8-bit” and “nu-rave”, their nihilist aesthetic and diverse body of work suggests their intentions and potential are worth much more.

Their myspace page attracted more than 4 millions visitors and over 5 millions plays. Their self-titled debut album will be released on 28 April.

What the UK press thinks:

- Front cover of the NME on April 22nd
- Dance act with punk ethics (Artrocker)
- Their forthcoming album hints at a niche beside Klaxons and Justice (Guardian)
- Dark, sweaty, noisy and perfect. Crystal Castles are brilliant songwriters with tunes and melodies any straighter band would die for (NME)
- One of the ten bands to watch (Observer)
